2021 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Tasting Notes: 
The gravelly soils of this West Benchland Rutherford vineyard block produce a complex wine that possesses dense fruit and soft tannins. A bouquet of wild blackberries, boysenberries, dark red cherries, spiced cedar, lilacs, mocha, and loam leads into a balanced palate full of dense red berries, herbs de Provence, pie crust, and clove. The deep gravel and alluvial soils add nuance and structure, while the sandy loam brings elegance and finesse to a concentrated presentation. The mouthfeel is plush and refined, supported by supple tannins that finish with focused purity and length that can only come from the most pedigreed of sites.

• In 1999, longtime friends Roger Louer and Robert Young commenced efforts to establish a first-class Cabernet Sauvignon wine brand, sourcing the grapes from Howell Mountain, Napa Valley, California. 
  
  Located to the east of St. Helena, at an elevation ranging from 1400 to 2200 feet, Howell Mountain is considered one of the most prestigious wine growing regions in the world. Roberts and Rogers sources its grapes for this wonderful wine from the Howell Mountain sub appellation area and for the present vintages from a vineyard jointly developed by Roberts and Rogers in 2000.

Grassi Wine

• There is no public tasting room, but private ‘property visits’ are available by appointment.
• Produces 500-750 cases per year across Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and a Ribolla Gialla (made in a sparkling and a still version).
• Founded by Mark and Jami Grassi in 2005, the winery is now run by their daughter Cassandra and her husband.

2022 Napa Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

• Produced 350 cases
• 87% Cabernet Sauvignon 13% Cabernet Franc
• Aged for 20 months in 60% new French oak

Tasting notes: 
The 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has beautiful red and black fruit intermixed with classic Cabernet tobacco, lead pencil, leafy herbs, and a kiss of chocolate. It’s balanced and has surprising density for a 2022, with ripe tannins and a great finish. Drink bottles through 2032.
