Tasting Notes: 
The 2021 Oakville Cabernet opens with aromas of ripe black fruit—blackberry compote and candied plum—framed by espresso, cocoa powder, and toasted oak. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with fine-grained tannins guiding the layered flavors. Oak-derived spice integrates seamlessly, leading to a composed, moderate finish with lingering notes of dark fruit and subtle earth.

2022 Proprietary Red Wine

• 229 cases produced
• 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Malbec, 9.5% Syrah, 7% Merlot, 5.5% Petit Verdot
• 28 months on 25% new French oak

Tasting Notes: 
Most of this blend is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is responsible for the dark cherry & plum flavors as well as the rich and concentrated mouthfeel. The Syrah folds in dark fruit, mixed berry & toffee aromatics with a fleshy yummy tannin. The Malbec offers up gobs of blue fruit and violet aromatics with a sweeter plush tannin. The Malbec and Syrah tannin help to round out the Cabernet Sauvignon tannin and make it that much more approachable now. Lastly & often added sparingly because of its intensity, we blend in Petit Verdot to bolster the backbone and introduce a darker and, more brooding fruit character. In 2022 we even added a fraction of Merlot to help balance the dark fruit with fresh red fruit.

Since founding the winery in 2002, the Lede family has expanded their vineyard holdings in Napa Valley to 160 acres, stretching from Carneros, to the winery location in Stags Leap District, and north to Calistoga. The winery is proud to be family owned-and-operated, with second-generation vintner Jason Lede serving as General Manager and COO. The music-themed names of the wines are a nod to founded Cliff Lede’s naming of the individual vineyard blocks after his favorite classic rock songs and albums.

Jason Lede describes his inspiration for creating Crossfade in 2019: “As a DJ, I use the crossfader on my mixer to blend songs together for a seamless experience. This technique inspired me to create a wine that exemplifies a perfectly balanced mix. Working with the Cliff Lede winemaking team, I discovered Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon match up beautifully and I love how the two varieties are genetically related. Crossfade is simultaneously a tribute to the art of DJing and a symbol of how well two generations can work together.”

Tasting Notes: 
The charming and lush 2023 Crossfade features an incredibly complex nose of charcoal embers, blackberry, cassis, warm mulberries, and a delightful array of forest floor notes. A co-fermented lot of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc plays the leading role, sending forth a whirlwind of cigar tobacco, Ancho chile, dried leaves, and mineral notes. A crescendo of malted chocolate and roasted chestnut flavors ride out along the balanced finish of this unique and singular wine.
